Aldens has enjoyed a position at the forefront of the Belfast dining scene since 1998, when Jonathan Davis opened this contemporary restaurant after training at Leith's in London.
For over a decade, the restaurant has retained high standards offering a hospitable welcome to both locals and visitors alike. The elegantly under-stated bar / reception area is perfect to browse the menu and enjoy a choice of olives with a pre-dinner drink. Comfortable seating, fresh flowers and smartly presented tables give the restaurant a cool chic yet cleverly unpretentious edge.
The cooking is accomplished and the menu offers great value for money. Top class ingredients give dishes such as the seared foie gras or carpaccio of venison a touch of luxury. On our visits we've enjoyed chicken liver paté with hot toast and red onion marmalade, caesar salad, prime fish such as seabass or red snapper and game including pigeon and saddle of rabbit. Whatever you choose, you can be sure the cooking is with flair and great flavour combinations. Desserts are particularly good and a perfect way to finish the night here.
The restaurant is a 10 minute drive from the city centre, and is at the junction of the Sandown Road and the Upper Newtownards Road. Parking is available in the nearby Sandown Road public car park, or there is limited parking across the road.
